World Team Cup also 2011 in Dusseldorf
Power Horse Energy Drink GmbH new title sponsor
The continuance of the World Team Cup is assured. The Austrian energy
drink POWER HORSE is joining the 34th tournament as its namesake main
sponsor. The event will run from 15 - 21 May 2011 traditionally taking
place in the Rochus Club in Duesseldorf. From now on the tournament will
be named the POWER HORSE World Team Cup.
At the press conference hosted on 13 December 2010, the continuation of the team cup,
which has been held for 33 years, was very uncertain following the departure of the main
sponsor of many years. There was even talk of cancelling it. However, the team of
organisers did not just give in. On the contrary they really got down to looking for a sponsor.
And they were successful: In the last few days they were able to conclude negotiations with
POWER HORSE.
Austria is literally considered to be the birthplace of energy drinks and many companies
operate from this area. Only a few of them, however, have made it to the global Top 10-
ranking. POWER HORSE Energy Drinks GmbH, which has its headquarters in Upper-Austria
and branch offices in Dubai, San Francisco and Mumbai is one of the leading suppliers in the
world market. Since 1993, the brand has been marketed to more than 50 countries. The
main markets are the Middle East and Africa; distribution is continually being expanded in
Europe. Thus the energy drink featuring the black stallion will be galloping its way into
Germany this spring.
„Our commitment to the POWER HORSE World Team Cup is a clear statement both within
Europe and at international level”, Thomas Koenigsbauer, Power Horse CEO, sums it up.
„The sustained dynamics of tennis as a sport matches very well with the attributes of our
brand. The global market presence of the tournament will reinforce communication in many
countries. The fact that the POWER HORSE World Team Cup is a team tournament goes
perfectly with our business philosophy: pooling energy so as to be able to reap success in
the market in co-operation with our partners“.
POWER HORSE has been active in the sports section in recent years. Last year the
company acted as a sponsor to the Polo European Championships and also sponsored the
Austrian Football Club Linzer ASK. On the occasion of the Football World Championship in
South Africa, the Manchester City player, Emmanuel Adebayor, who was nominated African
player of the year in 2008, was signed up as a brand ambassador. Apart from activities in the
field of sports sponsorship, POWER HORSE also promotes product placements in addition
to classical media and promotions at the POS. The brand’s appearance in the Angelina Jolie2
Film WANTED and co-operation with 20th Century Fox with regard to the action-movie ATEAM will remain unforgettable.
In terms of its visual appeal, POWER HORSE clearly stands out from its competitors. The
energy drink is filled in a can with a wider diameter. It is a truly masculine power pack and
not just a cosy little can.
