Isner/Fish capture victory for USA
John Isner and Mardy Fish
secured the first victory for the US-team at the POWER HORSE WORLD
TEAM CUP. The Americans defeated the Swedish doubles specialists,
Robert Lindstedt and Simon Aspelin, 4-6, 7-6 (7-5) and 10-4. Now, the

Argentina, who won their first tie against Kazakhstan 3-0.
Isner won his singles match against the up-and-coming player, Christian Lindell, quite easily. After winning the first set and being up a break in the second set, Sam Querrey almost sprang a surprise against the world no. 5 player, Robin Soderling, before Soderling turned the match around.
In the deciding doubles match, Lindstedt and Aspelin got off to the better start and broke the US-team on Mardy Fish’s serve. Although they did not win another break, they won the set 6-4. In the second set, both teams held their serves, while Isner/Fish had the upper hand in the tiebreak. Also in the match-tiebreak the Americans played convincingly and converted the first match point after an hour and 33 minutes. (pps).
