Wednesday: Kohlschreiber and Soderling in action

On the fourth day of the tournament, Philipp Kohlschreiber might ensure Germany's second victory at the POWER HORSE WORLD TEAM CUP. At 13:00 o'clock, the player from Augsburg will play the second singles match of the tie against Spain. Kohlschreiber will play Daniel Gimeno-Traver on Centre Court I at the Rochusclub in Dusseldorf. After winning the first tie in the ‘Blue Group’ 3-0 against Serbia and after Florian Mayer won the top singles match against Marcel Granollers on Tuesday, Kohlschreiber could keep the German team on the path towards the finals. Kohlschreiber and Gimeno-Traver will play each other for the first time. ‘I hope that Kohli will score the 2-0 victory for Germany. Otherwise, we’ll make the point in the doubles match,' Florian Mayer said.

On Centre Court I, the top singles match of the tie between the title holder, Argentina, and Sweden will be played by Maximo Gonzalez, who is replacing Juan Monaco due to a wrist injury, and Robin Soderling, ranked no. 4 in the world. Soderling, who had to put up with a 1-2 defeat against the USA despite winning a tough match against Sam Querrey in three sets, is under pressure to win the match against Gonzalez. Juan Ignacio Chela provided for the 1-0 lead for the gauchos by winning his match against Christian Lindell in straight sets 6-1, 6-1.

The last match on Centre Court I will be the doubles match Germany against Spain. The team captain of the German team, Patrik Kuhnen, might back on the combination Philipp Petzschner/Christopher Kas, who won against the duo from Serbia. The Spaniards might probably play the doubles experts, Marc Lopez and Marcel Granollers who beat Russia.

On Centre Court II, three doubles matches will be played from 13:00 o'clock. The first match will be held between the USA and Kazakhstan. After Mardy Fish's victory against Andrey Golubev und Sam Querrey's defeat against Mikhail Kukushkin, the tie will be decided by the doubles match, whereas Serbia's tie against Russia has already been decided after the singles matches. However, another victory might improve he Serbians’ position prior to the last match day.

The last doubles match will be played by Argentina and Sweden. Should Soderling keep a clean sheet - he has not been beaten in Dusseldorf since 2007 – against Gonzalez, this tie might also be decided by the doubles match. Sweden might probably play the doubles specialists Robert Lindstedt and Simon Aspelin. However, Soderling has proven several times at the Rochusclub that his strength is not only in singles …
