Fisher/Isner secure victory for USA against Kazakhstan

By winning the doubles match 6-3, 7-6 the Americans decided the tie against Kzakhstan in their favour (2-1) and thus also won their second tie in the Red Group. John Isner and Mardy Fish won the first set (6-3) against Andrey Golubev/Mikhail Kukushkin after merely 23 minutes. Although the second set took exactly one hour and was hard fought for, the US-boys kept their cool although they got an early break by the Kazakhs. They broke them back (4-4) and, in the end, won the tiebreak 12-10.

The US team, whose slogan is “to at least make it to the finals” according to Mardy Fish, will play the titleholder, Argentina, in the third tie.
