Russia reduces score to 1-2 after doubles
In
the Blue Group, Russia won its doubles match 6-3, 4-6, 10-5 to end
the tie 1-2. On Tuesday, Serbia had won both singles matches. The
clear 6-3, 6-1 victory of Viktor Troicki against Mikhail Youzhny was
quite surprising, while Dusan Lajovic's victory over Igor Andreev
was almost sensational. In the doubles match, the two Russian
players, Igor Andreev and Dmitry Tursonov won the first set (6-3)
against Viktor Troicki/Janko Tipsarevi with only one break after some
30 minutes. With three breaks, the second set, which the Serbian team
won 6-4, was more balanced. Thus, the tie was decided in the match
tiebreak.
In the last tie of the Blue Group, Russia will play Germany on Thursday and Friday.
