Robin Soderling captures victory again
Robin
Soderling is still on the 'path to victory' at the Rochusclub in
Dusseldorf. The top five player from Sweden equalized the score
against Argentina (1-1) by winning his match against Maximo Gonzalez
6-1, 6-4. Thereby, he won his tenth singles match in a row since 2007
at the venue in Dusseldorf, Rolander Weg. The 27-year old Argentine
player, who is ranked 75 places below Soderling, did not really have
a chance on Centre Court I and lost the first set after 25 minutes
only (1-6). In the second set, Soderling lost his concentration for a
while, got broken, but found right back into the game and converted
his first match point after 1 hour and 11 minutes. The “hard-hitter”,
Soderling, could really max out his strengths on the dry clay court.
On Tuesday, he hadn’t been too happy with the slower courts – due
to the wet clay and thus heavier balls.
The tie between Sweden and Argentina will be decided in the doubles match. Should Sweden not win the doubles, Soderling’s team no longer has a chance to make it to the finals.
