Serbia leads against Spain
Viktor
Troicki provided for the 1-0 lead of his team by winning the top
singles match against Spain 6-4, 6-4 against the Spaniard Marcel
Granollers. It was sufficient for the 25-year old player, ranked no.
16 in the world, to capture one break at 5-4 in order to win the
first set after 40 minutes.
Also in the second set, which took four minutes longer than the first one, the clay court specialist could not really cause Troicki any difficulties. At 3-5, Granollers succeeded in fending off two match points on his serve, but only shortly afterwards the Serbian player converted his first match point.
The tie between Serbia and Spain will be decided on Friday, when the second singles and the doubles match will be played.
