Argentina takes lead in the rematch of last year’s finals
In the rematch of
last year’s finals at the POWER HORSE WORLD TEAM CUP the title
holder took the 1-0 lead against the USA. Juan Monaco won the
fiercely contested match against the no. 10 of the world, Mardy Fish,
7-6 (7-4), 7-5. This tie of the Red Group will decide which team will
reach the finals of the World Team Cup. The second singles match will
be played by Juan Ignacio Chela and John Isner.
The match between Monaco and Fish was an exciting fight with a lot of long baseline rallies. In the first set, the American had several set points at 5-4 on Monaco’s serve, however was not able to use them. Then, in the tiebreak the score was quickly 5-2 for Monaco who no longer handed over the reins. Also the second set was fiercely fought for, but the clay court specialist, Juan Monaco, came out on top. (pps)
