Kohlschreiber loses to Chela

Tie to be decided by the doubles match

The final tie of the 34th world team cup, this year's POWER HORSE WORLD TEAM CUP between Germany and title holder Argentina will be decided by the doubles match. After Florian Mayer's victory at the Rochusclub in Dusseldorf against Juan Monaco, the 27-year old player from Augsburg, Philipp Kohlschreiber lost to Juan Ignacio Chela, ranked no. 43, 4-6, 6-7 (4-7).

The match was played on Centre Court I in ideal tennis weather conditions and was highly competitive. For Chela, the key to the match was his strong serve. Chela had more than 80 percent of good first serves and the 31-year old player won about 75 percent of points on his serve. In both sets, Kohlschreiber was quickly down a break and only succeeded to rebreak his opponent in the second set. Despite being up 3-0 in the tiebreak, the player from Augsburg did not win the set.

The winner of the finals will not only the “2011 World Champion”, but also sole record holder. The last time Germany won was in 2005, after USA (1984/1985) and Chile (2003/2004), Argentina could be the third team to successfully defend its title.
