The third Test match between India and England in the Paytm India vs England Series 2021 is scheduled from 24th February in the World’s largest Cricket Stadium- the Motera Cricket Stadium, Ahmedabad. India and England have already played two test matches against each other and the series currently is at a tie with each team gaining a victory.
The third test match between the teams is a pink ball test unlike the other three and will commence at 2:30 PM IST. India’s triumph in the second test after losing the first one puts them psychologically ahead in the competition but the reality that they both need equal victories two get ahead remains the same.
After a brutal defeat at the hands of England in the first test, India regained its momentum and seized a compelling victory of 317 runs. Fantastic performances by the players Rohit Sharma who scored 161 in the first innings, Rahane and Pant who scored more than a half-century each, and Ravichandran Ashwin who stood as the highest wicket-taker with 5 wickets has put them ahead in the first innings.
Ashwin’s mind-blowing century in the second innings along with his 3 wicket haul, Virat Kohli’s 62, and Axar Patel’s 5 wicket haul in the second innings made England pack their bags at just 164. The massive difference in the scores which surpassed the one in the first match might be a blow to the England team that had begun the series with flying colors.
The third and fourth test matches are crucial for India since the qualification of the Indian team for the ICC World Test Championship Final is dependent on the outcome of these matches. While India cannot afford to lose a match, England would have to win both the test matches in order to qualify.
Both the teams might make some changes in the team to prepare better for the upcoming pink ball test. With the absence of Moeen Ali, Bowler Dom Bess might return to the England team. A News report mentioned that the Indian team might bring Umesh Yadav into the attack considering the dew factor in the Stadium. While speculations stay, one must wait for the day of the match for the final announcement of the team and the team’s performance since that is the ultimate factor that affects the outcome.
