Every time you gamble, your greatest hope is for your bet to be correct and win big. You can bet on football teams, basketball, soccer, etc. If you are used to online betting, you know it is possible to lose many times or win often.
The most discouraging moment comes when you bet and the results come out correctly, but you get nothing. This happens in a push bet, but you might wonder what it is or why you don’t get your payment after a win.
What is a push bet all about?
In online betting, a push bet occurs when your bet is the same as the dealer’s number. What happens in sports betting is this – the dealer sets his number for the predicted outcome. The player also sets his number and waits for the outcome.
If the number set by the player is a winning number depending on the game outcome, he wins. But sometimes, the numbers set by the dealer and player become identical. In such a case, the number is termed as a push bet.
An example of push bet situation
Let’s take an example of a bet number for baseball fans set by a dealer. Let’s say a dealer sets his winning number as 7. When placing your bet, you predict your favorite team will win the game by seven points. You bet for team A versus team B could be something like -7 against +7.
You place your bet and patiently wait for the game to be over. If your favorite team wins by the exact number, it becomes a push bet. Let’s look at an example where the bet total spread is 47. If the teams win 20 versus 27, the total spread will be 47 and it becomes a push bet.
What happens if your bet is a push bet?
Following betting legalization in most US states, you must understand some of these terms. This is because they are contained in users’ terms and conditions, and you cannot claim or sue the dealer.
In such a case, no one wins, and none loses. It becomes a win-win situation. In a layman’s sense, you might say it was a draw situation. The money gets refunded to you the player to help you break even in your bet.
What you lose is your time and of course, you will feel bad for not winning a profit, but you don’t get to lose the money you had used for betting. The games that are commonest with push bets are baseball, basketball, hockey, and football although it’s possible to have push bets in any game.
